i4cp Research Highlights
For our April meeting, we will have Kevin Oakes from i4cp, a research organization that discovers the people practices that drive market performance, talk about the 3 hottest topics for HR leaders.
Culture Renovation: A Blueprint for Action
Over 67% of the more than 6,000 organizations that participated in i4cp’s groundbreaking study Culture Renovation had recently undertaken some form of culture transformation. But influencing or changing organizational culture is not easy. In fact, only 15% of those culture change efforts were reported to be highly successful. But we learned a lot from those 15%.
This unique session reveals 18 specific actions that distinguish high-performance organizations and are closely linked to successful culture transformation. It also includes case examples of several leading organizations in which culture renovation is underway, including Microsoft, AbbVie, Booz Allen Hamilton, Ford, and 3M.
Avoid Acquisition Acrimony: How to Analyze Culture Synergy Early
Culture is the number one reason most acquisitions succeed or fail. And yet, when one company buys another, the matter of culture is often (and surprisingly) disregarded until after terms are agreed to and the acquisition is announced. i4cp’s recent study on M&A, which involved more than 1,200 business professionals, found ample evidence of this. The study also discovered four pivotal roles that HR should play—and often doesn’t—during acquisitions. Notably, the study found that high-performance organizations were 3.5 x more likely to consider HR to be a critical partner in all phases of mergers and acquisitions.
In this session you will learn the study’s key findings, including common mistakes organizations make, actions they should take to improve their chances of successfully acquiring and integrating other companies, and the four roles HR needs to play.
What Organizational Network Analysis Tells Us About High Performance
Numerous i4cp studies in recent years, including the firm’s research on culture renovation and M&A culture synergy, have revealed a common next practice—or, emerging approach that is highly correlated to market performance but few companies are utilizing.
That next practice is the use of organizational network analysis (ONA) and the social network science research insights stemming from over 300 ONA projects. The research has revealed what the most successful employees do differently from a collaboration, or social-capital perspective.
Whether you leverage your own network analytics or not, understanding social network science insights can help organizations improve retention rates of your top talent (who are often overloaded), help key leaders to be more effective, and advance team effectiveness and individual well-being.
Who Should Attend
